Welcome, ladies and gents, to another entry of Late Night Armchair Mechanic . You love him, you hate him, you may have never heard of him, here’s your host; Baeromez !
What’s up denizens of of the internet’s greatest off-topic automotive forum?
You may have noticed the recent downturn in late-night activity on oppo, which just so happens to be my favorite time to shoot the shit. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I’m calling Late Night Armchair Mechanic. Basically the gist is, I come up with a topic of discussion that only a seasoned daydreamer would even consider a possibility and we bat it around like a shuttlecock at a badminton raver’s convention.
Tonight’s Topic
In stark contrast with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the subject of tonight’s madness is the venerable Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R motor.
Purportedly producing a ponderously perplexing 172 hp at a positively preposterous 10,100 rpm; a believably benign 97 lb-ft, albeit at a boisterously brash 7,600 rpm; this 1.3L, 16 valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled screamer weighs in at a fantastically featherweight 135 lbs.
So my question to you this fine Friday evening is, given a team of highly trained fabricators, an unlimited budget, and all the time in the world; what would your ultimate Hayabusa swap be? Don’t be afraid to bore us with the details!
I look forward to your answers to this edition of Late Night Armchair Mechanic . I’m your host, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , good night and great dreams.

The opposite of last times answer.
Because fuck logic, that’s why.

Guess I’ll have to get the ball rolling tonight.
I’ve always thought that the perfect car to drop a Hayabusa engine into would be a Mark I Austin-Healey Sprite . With a minuscule curb weight of 1477 lbs and stock output of 48 hp, these proto-roadsters would see an absolutely ridiculous 350% increase in power from the installation of a Suzuki 1.3.

Wow, could you even move one of these behemoths with 97 lb-ft?

This is a great answer! I would be terrified to drive it, though.

Or perhaps a 1/2 scale Ford GT40

I would upgrade the tires to.....well........rubber. But I think this is the best answer.

Instead of swapping the busa engine into something else, I would say, swap a GRC engine (2.0 liter engine making 600 hp) into a suziki bike, suzuki thinks that them and their pathetic 170 hp is impressive ;p
Actually it is for something that small.

Bit late to this party, but why not one of Suzuki’s classic kei cars, especially the ‘71 Fronte Coupe or later similar-styled Suzuki Cervo?
Fronte Coupe:
Cervo:
The Fronte, especially, already looks mean, so an increase from the stock 360cc, 36hp kei-spec engine of that period to the 172hp of the the Hayabusa motor would be ludicrous, plus, the revvy nature of the Fronte’s original 2-stroke wouldn’t be lost with the Haya motor :)

That would be awesome. I’ve never heard of the Fronte, so I had to do a little research. Rear-engine, RWD, these things are very cool.
